Dashboard - Scores and Progress at a Glance

The dashboard shows you at a glance how your analyzed pages are doing, how the scores are developing and where there's still something to do.

What is the dashboard for?

Every analysis you run with your account (see Page Audit) is saved, and the dashboard evaluates those analyses. It answers four questions:

  • How is my page doing overall? Averages and rating levels
  • Is it getting better? Score history over time
  • What is left to do? Number of open recommendations
  • Which page needs attention? Table of all tracked pages

Open it via Dashboard in the navigation. You can't get in without signing in, you end up at the login instead.

Tip: The dashboard only gets really useful once the same page has been analyzed several times. Check important pages regularly, say once a week or after bigger changes, and you'll see a real trend.

No analyses yet?

If you haven't saved anything yet, the dashboard says "No analyses yet". "Analyze a page now" takes you straight to the analysis form.

The metrics

The most important figures are right at the top:

Metric Meaning
Total analyses All saved analyses of your account
Tracked pages Number of different pages (domains) you have analyzed
Avg. PageSpeed score Average loading performance according to Google
Avg. Meta score Average for title, description and other meta data
Avg. page quality Average of content and technical quality
Open recommendations Critical problems and improvement suggestions that are still open
Last analysis Time of your last analysis
Careful: The averages always use the latest analysis per page. An old, worse measurement no longer drags the value down once you've analyzed the page again.

Average scores

The three scores (PageSpeed, Meta, page quality) are shown as bars with a mark at 90. From there on a score counts as good.

Below that is the change from the previous analysis, so you can quickly see whether your latest measures did anything.

Pages by rating

This card sorts your pages into three levels:

Level Range
Good 90 and above
Medium 70 to 89
Weak below 70

A page lands in the level of its weakest metric. That's on purpose: with PageSpeed 95, Meta 92 and quality 55 a page isn't "good", it has a quality problem. An average would hide exactly that.

The limits match the score colors in the table below.

Score history

The chart shows for one page how PageSpeed, Meta and page quality have changed over time.

  1. Choose the domain via "Select page"
  2. Every point in the history is an analysis
  3. Compare jumps with what you changed, for example after a relaunch or an image optimization

The page you analyzed most recently is preselected.

Your tracked pages

The table shows every page with its current status:

Column Meaning
Domain The analyzed page
Last check When it was last analyzed
PageSpeed, Meta, Quality Scores of the latest analysis, colored by level
Open Open recommendations
Analyses How often the page has been analyzed

A click on a row opens the detail view of the latest analysis with all recommendations. That's where you work through the measures (see Page Audit). Pages with the newest analyses are at the top.

Sitemap notice

If you've used the crawler, the dashboard also shows how your sitemap.xml is doing:

  • "Your sitemap.xml is error-free": everything is fine
  • "n problem(s) in your sitemap.xml": the crawl found faulty entries
  • "Your sitemap.xml is unreachable": the file cannot be retrieved

"Open sitemap report" leads straight to the crawler report. The time shown is that of the last crawl.

Working with the dashboard

Look in once a week and see which pages are "Weak". Start with the page that has the most open recommendations and deal with the critical problems first, then the improvements. After that you analyze the page again: "Open" drops, the score rises. Later, the history shows whether the change lasted.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a page missing from the dashboard?

Only analyses you made while signed in count. The dashboard can't assign analyses made without an account.

Why is the PageSpeed score missing for a page?

The PageSpeed value is measured at Google and sometimes arrives a bit later. Or Google couldn't evaluate the page. Just analyze it again then.

What does "Open" mean?

It's the sum of critical problems and improvement suggestions from the latest analysis. Passed checks aren't included.

How many analyses does the dashboard take into account?

At most 500 analyses of your account. If you've saved more, not all of them make it into the evaluation.

Is there an overall grade?

No, and that's intentional. There are three separate scores instead of one overall grade, because an overall grade would hide weak values.
